From the Dean & CEO This has been a remarkable summer for NYU Langone Medical Center, with powerful endorsement of our efforts from three very different sources. Fiona Druckenmiller, a trustee and strong advocate of the Medical Center since 2006, and her husband, Stanley, made an extraordinarily generous $100 million gift through the Druckenmiller Foundation to establish a state-of-the-art neuroscience institute here. The National Institutes of Health awarded us $29.4 million to establish a University-wide Clinical and Translational Science Institute in partnership with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. For the first time in 13 years, NYU Langone rejoined U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals Honor Roll, which ranks the top institutions in the country. The Honor Roll requires "a breadth of excellence" based on high scores in at least six specialties, placing us in the top two-fifths of 1 percent of the nearly 5,000 hospitals analyzed. Three of our medical specialties (orthopaedics, rehabilitation, and neurology and neurosurgery) appeared in the top 10, and two others (cancer and heart/heart surgery) advanced dramatically. I am grateful for the immense efforts that earned us these outstanding distinctions, and applaud each of you for the part you played in our achievements. My thanks and congratulations to all of you!
